Washing up chats

My 9 yr old daughter likes nothing more than helping with the tea pots, she always offers to dry the dishes.
This gives us chance for a chat, though sometimes i struggle to take in the fast pace and change of topic. Tonight was no different.

We started off talking about boys, well her brothers to be exact, and how useless thay are at keeping their bedrooms tidy, she informed me of the things that she finds whilst she is having a sneaky peek, about how Teen 2 keeps chocolate under the cushion on his chair, and Teen 1 , never seems to notice that she has 'borrowed' change of his cabinet, ( I know he knows and finds it funny) .

This conversation changed without any natural flow to would she be able to live in our house when i died, as she knows where everything is and wouldn't gt lost if the power was not working. Before i could answer she had swiflty moved on to.... "How much did  this house cost?" and " How much is the cheapest house in the world? "

Sadly i didnt know the answer to the 2nd question and she had come to the conclusion that it would be better if everything in the world was free.

I liked her thinking , and working for fun and self presivation might actually be nice.

Nearly finished the dishes now , but she had a just got time to tell me t that Joe who sits next to her in Maths scrapped the skin of his hand and made his knuckle flappy, he went to the doctors and had a butterfly stitch . That was tonights washing up.

  1. I have an 8 year old boy so I understand this kind of conversation. I love those chats. Your daughter sounds like a wise little girl for her age, very observant :D Jen.

  4. Aww I love the way they bounce all manner of random things into the conversations! Nice idea though to fit the little chat in whilst drying up... now if only I could interest my girly in that!
